Who we are
We are a small, dedicated team of local and international members united by a common goal: the preservation of fish species from Indonesia’s blackwater swamp ecosystems. By combining local knowledge with global expertise, we work to protect these fragile habitats and the unique species that depend on them.

Our Story
We first met during trips to visit fish habitats In Bangka and Belitung. Our team came together through a shared passion for fish and a deep love of nature. We quickly connected through shared values and a common vision. The idea for this project grew from the realization that palm oil plantations were spreading at an alarming rate, devastating the delicate swamp forest ecosystems of Indonesia and the fish species that depend on them.
Other inspiring initiatives, like the Burdigala Project, also motivated us to take action. Many of us have backgrounds in biology, ecology, or environmental science, and we knew that by combining our knowledge and efforts, we could help protect these fragile ecosystems. Focusing on the Parosphromenus genus was a natural choice: most species are endangered, and these tiny, beautiful fish are found throughout Indonesia’s swamp forests, ecosystems as unique as they are vulnerable.
